The general goal and objective of MFLI is to assist Korean Immigrants in the metropolitan Washington D.C. area in their transition to life in the U.S. The MFLI provides hundreds of Korea-Americans with assistance in individual and family counseling, vocational counseling, translation, and interpretation services. We also provide assistance in emergency/crisis situations, including referrals to appropriate public agencies.

METROPOLITAN FAMILY LIFE INSTITUTE

The METROPOLITAN Family Life Institute (MFLI), founded in 1994 under the First Virginia Baptist Church, Alexandria, Virginia, is a privately funded 501(c)3 tax-exempt, non-profit organization devoted to counseling, teaching, and assisting Korean-American youths create an authentic environment for themselves within universal, ecological, national, regional, and racioethnic cultures, through the use of scriptural Judo-Christian values, ethics, principles, and Biblical teachings. The Institute offers assistance both to individual youths and their families.

MFLI and its employees believe that the bible is the infallible and inerrant Word of God, and that any and all counseling to be offered by or through its institution must be centered upon the Gospel of Jesus christ and supported by the Holy Scripture. MFLI, accordingly, purposes and believes that its counseling will and must at first address the spiritual needs and deprivations of mankind--ie. the sinful state of an individual, as is taught in the Bible--and thereafter deal with each related social, psychological, economic, and emotional need.
